Additional Roles:

Female Assistants:

In addition to medical personnel, the Feldgendarmerie detachment of the Regiment will allow for accurate female military police auxiliary impressions, and the unit itself will allow for accurate assistant roles (primarily Nachrichtendienst Herlferinnen or in other words communications assistants).  In considering the female roles further, one must remember, that as a Cossack/foreign volunteer unit, it was commonplace for the women, children, family, etc. related to the unit members to follow the movements of the unit.  This was primarily due to the fact that many of these people had nowhere else to go, and they assisted in supporting the unit in any way they could.  As such, other appropriate female auxiliary roles will be considered as well.  Uniforms for these roles can vary from modified civilian dress, to standard German female auxiliary issued uniforms, to properly converted captured Soviet or Allied uniforms (i.e. British battle dresses).  All civilian or assistant impressions must be approved by unit commander.

Female Cossack Civilian:

As mentioned above, unlike in normal German units, it was quite common for foreign volunteer units to have their own entourages of civilians.  This was especially the case for the Cossacks, given that they were torn from their homeland, and therefore needed to take their relatives/families with them.  In many ways, these civilians did what they could to support the men of the unit.  Whether it be cook, clean or just assist around the camp.  To cater to this reality, accurate Cossack female civilian impressions will be considered as well.  These can range from basic civilian, to traditional Cossack, and it must be stressed, that any such impression needs to be be approved by both unit commander.  The goal being for the public to be made aware, that women, were largely responsible for the continued existence of Cossack and Eastern foreign volunteer units of the time.

Attached Male and Underage Civilians:

As stated above, it was common for families to accompany the Cossacks.  It was also quite common for orphaned male children to be adopted by Cossack units.  As such, unit members that are not of age to participate in a direct military role/impression, will be given the opportunity to portray period civilian camp assistants (i.e. stable hand, water/food hauler, messenger, camp musician, etc.).  It is of the utmost importance, that the roles being portrayed are not military in nature, and that the impressions are first approved by the unit commander.  Older males may also take on camp assistant roles similar to those listed above for underage males.  Dress for boys and men should be period appropriate for the impression and meet unit commander approval.  Items of dress may consist of mixed traditional Czarist, Cossack or civilian items.
